History :
Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II thereby
the name. Its probably the first planned city of India. Jaipur has been the
capital of erstwhile Jaipur estate since its inception in 1727 AD. The city
of Jaipur is the prime example of the cultural and traditions of this
region. In this land towering forts were built as much for ostentation as
for intimidating the enemy; and desperate battles were fought by rulers who
were great patrons of the arts. Among all the states of erstwhile princely
India, Rajputana is undoubtedly the one with the most martial record -
warring factions locked in deadly warfare, thousands of royal ladies
consigning themselves to flames preferring death to dishonor.
Climate :
Climate of Jaipur is extreme hot in summers. The summers
have a maximum temperature of 40 degree C and minimum is 25.8 C. In late
June come the monsoon which provides great relief. It is preceded by dust
and thunderstorms while the post-monsoon season in September is followed by
another hot spell. The best months to visit jaipur are from October to
February.
